The Linking of Opposites-Micheal Rosenberg

-->
My heart swells, as if injected with Helium
But becomes heavy with hot gas.
A strange sensation of floating and sinking,
Hands heavy but feet flight,
The linking of opposites: joy and despair,
Hope and torturous wars of peace.

And then you smile; all breath leaves lungs,
And love becomes my air.
I inhale quickly, not to waste a morsel,
Greedy for every instant of your company.
All thought of hunger leaves as,
Your presence sustains me.

Your eyes meet mine, and my tongue numbs.
Wit, which is my great strength, deserts me.
Parted lips, like a distant treasure,
Sing some beauteous music with every syllable.
Enraptured by your siren song, I pluck
Each word from the wind and lock it in my mind.

Do you know what words you inspire from my pen?
Can you read the poetry from my mind?
Can you sense my pulse quicken as you pass
And my temperature rise at your touch?
A kiss, which is more than hope will allow,
And I would explode.
